BeginnerTool

See who has earned the most XP on the hosted guide. You earn XP by finishing pages and solving practice challenges, and your level grows the same way a player's level grows in Minecraft.

How you earn XP

  • Finish a page. Press Mark this page as done at the bottom of a chapter or project and you get 30 XP.
  • Solve a challenge. Every Practice Arena challenge shows its XP. Harder challenges are worth more.
  • Levels. The bar next to your level is the same one you see at the top of every page. It fills up as you earn XP, and each level needs a bit more than the last.

The top players

The leaderboard lives on the hosted guide. You opened the guide as files on your own PC, so there is no list to show here. Your level bar at the top of every page still works and is saved in this browser.

On the hosted guide you can create an account with a username and a password. Your progress then follows you to every device, and you can choose to appear on the list.

Accounts and saving

You do not need an account to read the guide or to try the examples. Creating an account does two things: it saves your finished pages, quiz answers and solved challenges on the server so they follow you to your phone or another PC, and it lets you join the leaderboard.

  • No email and no other site. You pick a username (3 to 20 letters, numbers or underscores) and a password (at least 8 characters). Nothing else is asked.
  • Forgot your password? There is no email to send a reset link to, so ask a staff member of the guide. They can give you a temporary password, and you can change it after you sign in.
  • Pick a name you are happy to show. Do not use your real name if you would rather not share it.

Your progress is always kept in your browser first. If the connection drops, nothing is lost: the guide saves it to your account the next time it can.
